Welcome to The Pigfather!

FB_IMG_1531739139089We a family specialising in providing a Unique Micro Pig Experience! Our Micro Pigs, also known as Miniature Pigs or Mini Pigs, are our special pets and travel with us to Children’s and Adults’ Birthday Parties, Schools and Nurseries, Festivals and Fairs, Weddings and Anniversaries, to name but a few.  They have even starred in Media Productions!

Mikey, Sunny and Connie are our 3 young show mini pigs and more piglets will be joining The Pigfather very soon. Collectively, they have made many children happy, taught them that not all pigs are “dirty, smelly and fat”, and showed them that they are intelligent beings with different personalities who love to be sociable and with love and care, will become great pets.

How did it all begin?

Well, for many years I devoted my working life to caring for sick and injured farm, exotic, domestic and wild animals all across the UK. I had amazing opportunities to be working alongside rhinos, lions, giraffes, tigers and many other wild animals at West Midland Safari Park and Cotswolds Safari Park; treating injured and orphaned seals at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary; wildfowl, foxes, hedgehogs, bats and other wildlife at the RCPCA Stapely Grange Wildlife Hospital as well as looking after domestic animals such as horses, ponies, cats and dogs. My adventures didn’t end there and soon I was helping the keepers at London Zoo reptile house to feed, clean and handle a variety of snakes, lizards, alligators and crocodiles and other reptiles as well as assisted the resident veterinary nurse to nurture the sick animals there. My life journey continued and after more wonderful experiences at a variety of farms from lambing, dairy to pig farming, I trained as a RCVC Certified Veterinary Nurse and worked for a few years in several hospitals across the country treating domestic and wild animals. This taught me a lot of compassion to all creatures, great and small, and respect to all living creations.

FB_IMG_1531902420968Life is an amazing journey, but it does not always go the way we plan. So, after more than a decade of working with animals, I re-trained to become a Qualified Nurse, first visiting human patients in the community and later becoming a Practice Nursing Sister. The years of experience of looking after many ill, often dying and young people, made me realise that there were things in life that were more important than just dispensing medications or treating illnesses. Oftentimes, it was a simple smile, a hug, a loving touch or a listening ear, that made people feel better, loved and valued. It was always my aim to help people feel better emotionally and this made me truly happy.

Years later, after more studies to achieve my MSc qualification and after having a family of my own and getting three little pigs as pets for our children, I realised once again, that I wanted to bring happiness to people through offering therapeutic visits with our micro pigs as a healing therapy. The idea for The Pigfather was born at the end of 2017! Fast forward, in 2018 Mikey and Sunny, our two Mini Pigs, became the UK’s First Therapy Pigs, and they are currently in training!

2018 has been an amazing year for The Pigfather. From being in an online newspaper article, and numerous visits to parties, fairs, schools and nurseries, to filming the whole day with Sunny for a Commercial Shoot, we have now been nominated for The Family Network Business Recognition Award 2019 as a New/Start up business! Thank you to this amazing group (both East and West Surrey) for all their wonderful support, encouragement and guidance!

We are now looking forward to conquering more heights with our piggies in the New 2019 Year, bringing smiles, laughter, love and education to all those in need of pet therapy!

Thank you for reading.

With warmest regards,
