Nikki Sayers is a long standing member of our Warwick and Leamington group in Warwickshire. She runs her business Dandy Development around her family and this week won one of our fantastic awards at our Black tie event in Birmingham. The category Nikki won was Best Product of the Year 2014 an outstanding achievement when she launched Dandy development only 2.5 years ago.
Before the Networking Mummies UK Recognition Business Awards 2014 Nikki has entered the What’s On 4 Juniors Awards every year which is specifically for children’s classes. She won an award in 2012 and 2013 and hoping to become a finalist for the third year running but it is all down to how many people vote!
Nikki hoped to get through to the finals so that she could use the logo on her website and facebook and raise Dandy’s profile and gain some media attention. Nikki is very active on social media and Dandy development can be found on facebook here and twitter here.
When we spoke to Nikki she told us "I was thrilled to make it as a finalist as I know that there are so many wonderful products out there and it meant Dandy stood out as an outstanding product."
Nikki adds that the three key points to her story that probably got her through to the finals were:
- That she created the dandy classes and developed them completely on her own.
- That the Dandy Development brand is so strong and that it has broken into the difficult child market and competes on an equal level to national franchises.
- That Dandy classes are a new and unique combination of baby sign, music and sensory fun with speech and language therapy techniques.
When asked if Nikki used the press to promote her nomination and finalist position she told us she much prefered to shout about it on facebook and twitter and was actively using our #NMAwards2014 hashtag to promote and connect with other finalists, guests and . Although now she is a winner she is keen to get a press release out there to show the local press how well Dandy Development is doing and what it offers.
"I was totally shocked to be a winner as there were four other amazing finalists. It has given me confidence in my product and that it could launch nationally" Says Nikki when asked how she felt to win the 'Best Product' category. She attended the Recognition Awards on the 29th March 2014 at Jurys Inn in Birmingham and said "The awards night was fantastic, there was a really great atmosphere. It was wonderfully organised and ran very smoothly! I was concerned about attending on my own and not having anyone to chat to but I shouldn’t have worried. There were people there that I knew well, recognised from networking meetings and people I met through chatting on the night"
So what does Nikki have in store for Dandy Development in the future?
"I want to extend to another Dandy venue in Warwick in September and then look into franchising in the local area."
Everyone at Networking Mummies UK LTD wishes Nikki all the best with her future plans for Dandy development and are very excited to help and support the growth of Dandy Development however possible.
